2 WEEKS IN BALI, “THE ISLAND OF GODS”
UBUD : 4 days
Ubud is quite popular with families, for the simple reason that it is a charming picturesque area famous for its iconic rice terraces. In addition to having delicious restaurants and fun activities, Ubud happens to be the perfect starting point for many day trips in the surrounding area that you won’t want to miss.
Discover the famous Balinese rice terraces in Tegalalang
A trip to Bali would not be complete if you did not make the detour to see the beautiful green rice fields of Tegalalang. Get lost along the small paths of Tegalalang in search of rice workers or take a mandatory family photo to remember your moment here.
Prepare to be amazed by the sunrise from Mount Batur
Get ready to get up (very) early to catch this sunrise. We promise it’s definitely worth it. Just a one hour drive from Ubud followed by a fairly easy hike, you will witness one of the most beautiful sunrise in Indonesia. Kids can easily follow their parents without much difficulty, and you can even take a break to dip into the hot springs on your way back. It’s a magical show not to be missed which you and your family will remember for a long time!
Challenge yourselves to a “Family Camp” and push your limits
Green Camp, near Ubud, is a beautiful place with a range of fun activities that stimulate campers physically, intellectually and emotionally. Spend some time bonding with your family and learn more about yourself and nature through engaging and educational activities. Whether you choose a family camp for 3 or 5 days, your and your kids will have a fun and memorable experience!
Where to sleep in Ubud?
Our “Jungle Villas” feature stunning villas nestled in the jungles of Ubud. The Indo-Japanese styled villa with a relaxing atmosphere offers a tranquil and luxurious sanctuary that will leave with memories you and your family will remember for a long time.
AMED : 2 days
Amed, located in the north side of Bali, is famous for its black sand beaches and front row views of Mount Agung (which you can not climb at the moment because it is an active volcano). If you and your kids love diving or snorkling, Amed is a much quieter and less crowded spot than the south side of Bali. It’s the perfect spot to relax with your family and spend some quality time together at the beach!
Diving and Snorkeling towards the USS Liberty and Japanese Shipwreck
These two wrecks are well known to local divers in Amed. They are a few kilometers from each other and we recommend that you visit them in the quiet early hours of the morning when you have beautiful beams of light and the whole place for yourselves. If you do not necessarily want to dive, a mask and snorkel will do the trick for a great snorkeling session. Pay attention to the current, but it is usually not very strong. These spots are really worth seeing, especially as seeing a wreck under water is always a highlight to share with your children.
MUNDUK : 3 days
Nestled in the heights of the Balinese mountains, Munduk is a rare gem. Still preserved from the mass tourism that is found in the more famous parts of the island, this secluded place can be your family’s sanctuary.
Visit the dozens of waterfalls in the middle of nature
Take the whole family for a walk that you will all remember: Munduk is known for its beautiful spots hidden in the heart of the forest. You can certainly find waterfalls where you can take a fun dip!
Feel the adrenaline at Bali Treetop Adventure
Here’s a place to take your little monkeys swinging in the trees! Children and parents alike will be able to compete along the aerial courses of Bali Treetop Adventure, located in the mountains near Munduk. Bali is home to some of the most spectacular forests and jungles in the world, which you can discover from a new perspective by experiencing this exhilarating treetop adventure. The paths start from only 2 meters in height, and can go up to more challenging levels to 20 meters! At the end, you can enjoy the stunning scenery with a descent from the zip line that is 160 meters long.
CANGGU : 4 days
Back in the South of Bali, you will enjoy the good vibes of Canggu. The most bohemian town in Bali with its shops and restaurants, its upscale neighborhoods will remind you just a little bit of the big cities, but with surfers populating its beaches.
Family Fun at Finns Recreation Club
Take your family to spend a day at the Finns Recreation Club, where both children and grown-ups will have a good time! This club is located on a sprawling estate of 4 hectares in the middle of the Canggu rice fields. It features a full fitness center with a pool and sports court, a tennis center, a Body Temple spa, a sports bar, several restaurants, and kids will enjoy playing at Splash Water Park, at Bounce Trampoline Center, Strike Ten Pin Bowling and Cubby House!
Take a surf lesson
Athletic or not, you can not leave Bali without trying to surf at least once! Hire a teacher for the whole family, and conquer the waves! Most beaches in Canggu have a sandy bottom, so no risk if one of you falls. And if you don’t succeed the first time, you can always comfort yourselves with a family drink at the very popular and bucolic Old Man’s Bistrot.
Where to sleep in Canggu?
Own Villa, popular amongst celebrities and influencers, is a haven of peace that would be perfect for each member of the family ; you can relax by the pool with a well-deserved glass of wine, while your children play in the superb swimming pool.
SEMINYAK : 2 days
Located in the most touristic part of the island, Seminyak should be the last stop of your Bali trip, especially because it is close to Kuta Airport. You will find yourself in familiar Western comforts with the luxurious restaurants and shops.
Enjoy a day at the spa to fully relax
There’s nothing like a day of relaxation at a beautiful spa! You can find spas everywhere in Bali, but in Seminyak we like Montigo Resorts. Multi-generational and upscale, the Montigo Resorts spa allows you to invite your children to join you and enjoy their own treatments! Many options are possible, like the “Mom & Me” package starting with a massage of your choice of 60 minutes followed by a lulur scrub – traditionally used by the Princess of Java – while your little prince or princess will be offered a delicate massage using chocolate and strawberries. Another option is a massage cream with lavender and chamomile, followed by a facial and a manicure. The Montigo Spa uses only all-natural and safe products for children.
After the treatment, you can keep having fun with your family, with painting lessons at the Tilo Kids’ Club or take a private Balinese cooking class with the Montigo chefs.
Have fun learning to cook together
Discover the secrets of traditional Bali cuisine at the Seminyak Balinese Cooking Class. You and your family can learn how to cook Balinese dishes with a friendly and experienced chef.
Or head over to the Blu-Zea Resort by Double-Six, a hotel near the beach where you will find a variety of activities to keep your kids busy, including a cinema, a children’s corner and an authentic cooking lesson! During the course, you will prepare 7 different dishes, including a dessert, before enjoying your masterpieces. There’s no doubt that you will all return home delighted and full.
