Your Guide To Barcelona This September

Did you know that the weather in Barcelona in September and October is surprisingly pleasant and cool?
Just picture, all the tourists are gone… and finally you can have the city all to yourself (well almost).  In case you find yourself in Barcelona, here are some of Prestigious’ favorite hot spots to check out.

New Restaurant Openings

SOFIA Be So Gastronomic Restaurant

Chef Carles Tejedor of El Nacional, the Academy, and others is the mastermind behind the timeless Be So, which specializes in haute versions of hotel-dining-room classics like steak tartare and oysters. The restaurant’s wine presentation is unique: Pick a favorite scent from one of seven small perfume bottles, and the sommelier will recommend a handful different wines to match.

RICE! by Sanchez Romera

Neurologist and Chef, Sánchez Romera recently opened Rice!, a colorful restaurant based around the staple grain. Multi-textured rice varieties are the star of unique dishes like black rice with curry prawns, cuttlefish, and kombu velouté, and the Barcelona roll, a six maki roll made with different rices and filled with an array of vegetables and seafood.

Fismuler

The instant hit restaurant from Madrid, Fismuler, has finally opened a branch in Barcelona.  Their menu balances modernist dishes with simpler ones, with an emphasis on quality throughout. The three chefs behind Fismuler shared a kitchen at El Bulli 15 years ago, which explains their more technical-driven dishes, like gilthead carpaccio with almonds and razor clams with kimchi and fried kale.  Stop by on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to experience some live music that keeps diners in their seats long after the last course is served.

The Most Secretive Restaurant

Enigma

The most secretive restaurant in Barcelona, Enigma is the latest venture from celebrity chef brothers of the legendary elBulli, Ferran and Albert Adrià. Described as a culinary amusement park, guests arrive at Enigma’s address, where the door can only be unlocked by a secret code that is sent to you after your reservation is confirmed.  If you’re lucky to snag one of 28 seats for that evening, your 40 course adventure may end up being one of the most extraordinary culinary experiences of your life.

Behind a roller door, then behind a bookcase, you’ll be asked for your membership card—you can join on the spot, free of charge—and led into a tiny, yet open and inviting, room. This is a classic bar in every way, complete with a cute pocket-size menu that boasts a number of recognizable and vintage cocktails.
